Ductwork Replacement in Huntington Beach
Uneven temperatures or weak airflow? We’ll inspect your existing ducts, explain whether replacement makes sense, and give you a clear estimate. If a smaller repair is all you need, we’ll tell you.
▶ Watch video: Should you replace your air ducts? When replacement makes sense
Damaged runs, deteriorating insulation, loose connections and poor duct design can keep conditioned air from reaching the rooms that need it.
But uneven temperatures do not automatically mean you need all-new ducts. In Thomson’s own office, a closed damper was part of the problem. We start by looking at what is actually happening.

Good airflow starts with a thoughtful layout
In this Newport Coast project, Josh shows how the team measures and maps an underground duct layout before installation. It is a different type of project from a typical attic replacement, but it shows why planning matters.

The number and length of duct runs, attic or crawlspace access, insulation, layout changes and any separate asbestos abatement all affect the estimate.
Our attic duct replacement package is $4,130 for up to 8 supply runs and $5,740 for up to 15. Under-floor (crawlspace) systems are $6,560 for up to 8 runs and $8,960 for up to 15. If your attic opening needs work, a new trim and lid is $300, enlarging the opening with framing is $800, and a pull-down ladder access is $1,900.
If we find asbestos, a licensed, professional abatement company removes it first. On a typical home that runs about $1,200, paid to them directly. Your exact price comes from a free on-site estimate.

Replacement or a smaller repair?
A torn section, loose connection or damaged single run may be repairable. Sealing may help when the ducts are otherwise sound. Cleaning deals with buildup, not crushed ducts or an unsuitable layout.

Older ducts and asbestos
Do not disturb suspected asbestos. A separate appropriately licensed contractor handles testing and abatement. Thomson AC handles replacement ductwork and can help coordinate the handoff.

Ductwork questions, clearly answered
Should I replace my ducts or seal and clean them?
It depends on their condition and design. A disconnected joint or a damaged run may need a targeted repair. Sealing can address leaks in otherwise sound ducts, and cleaning addresses buildup, not damaged ductwork. We’ll inspect your system and explain the practical choices.
When is it time to replace AC ductwork?
Consider an inspection when rooms stay uneven, airflow is weak, ducts are visibly damaged, insulation is deteriorating, or repairs keep recurring. Age is a reason to look more closely, not an automatic reason to replace everything.
Does coastal Orange County affect ductwork?
Moisture, material condition, older construction and access can affect the work a duct system needs. An on-site inspection is more useful than assuming every coastal home has the same problem.
How much does ductwork replacement cost?
Our attic duct replacement package is $4,130 for up to 8 supply runs and $5,740 for up to 15. Under-floor systems, attic access work and any separate asbestos abatement add to that. We offer a free on-site estimate so you can see your exact price before deciding.
What if my old ducts contain asbestos?
Do not disturb suspected asbestos materials. A licensed, professional abatement company handles testing and abatement. On a typical home that runs about $1,200, paid to them directly. Thomson AC handles the replacement ductwork and can help coordinate the handoff.
Can I replace ductwork without replacing my HVAC system?
Sometimes. We’ll look at the existing equipment, duct condition and airflow concerns before recommending whether ductwork alone is the appropriate next step.
