Quiet enough for close lot lines
The outdoor unit is rated at about 56 decibels. In Orange County neighborhoods where the next house may be only a few feet away, that matters. Josh’s unit sits outside his daughter’s room, and she does not hear it running. He says it is quiet enough to have a normal conversation right next to it.
Less than 14 inches wide
If your side yard is barely wide enough to walk through, this is where the Daikin FIT earns its keep. The outdoor unit is less than 14 inches wide, so it can work in places where a standard cube-style unit would block access or simply would not fit. We still measure the space and confirm clearances before recommending it.
Steady comfort instead of hard starts and stops
Older single-stage systems tend to turn on at full output, shut off, and repeat. Daikin FIT uses inverter technology to adjust as the house needs more or less cooling or heating. The result is steadier operation, fewer noticeable temperature swings, and better moisture control when the system is selected and commissioned correctly—especially near the coast.
What Thomson checks before recommending Daikin FIT
The first thing we look at is your existing ductwork and where the outdoor unit can actually go. Not every home is a good candidate, and we would rather tell you that upfront than install a system that has to fight against the house.
If FIT does make sense, we walk through air-conditioner versus heat-pump options based on how you use the home, not just what looks best on a spec sheet. Then our installers set up and commission the complete system—not only the outdoor unit. Airflow, refrigerant charge, thermostat settings, and moisture removal all affect how the equipment feels after we leave.
That last part matters in coastal Orange County. A system can make cold air and still leave the house feeling damp.
